send SMS to any mobile device worldwide direct from you PC

Though SMS might not have the same impact it had about 5 years ago any longer but it is still very relevant in todays world and the guys at SIPphone are quite aware of that fact too. I have tested the service by sending SMS to my mobile phone and two of my friends but only mine was delivered while my friends did not receive the SMS. I think this is just a hitch on their server side or its just overloaded with lot of sms request. I hope they will put everything in perfect order soon and users will be able to enjoy this nice feature hassles free.Just some couple of weeks after launching gizmoCall they have now added another feature to the ever popular gizmo project voip client nichnamed GizmoSMS. With GizmoSMS you can send SMS to any mobile device worldwide direct from you PC and at the moment sending SMS is free. The people at SIPphone, the company behind gizmo project seems to be working really hard to ditch out as many useful services as they can.

change your SMSC number to one below

When you send a text message, it is first transmitted to your network's routing centre, called the Short Message Service Centre, or SMSC. This SMSC is generally a telephone number, normally a memorable one- i.e. Orange's is 0973 100973. Here, it is sent to the recipient's network's SMSC, where it is then forwarded to their phone. The whole process takes only seconds, but the vital part is when it reaches your SMSC, because then it is forwarded, and you are charged according to your tariff. If you, however, change your SMSC number to one below, the network who forward the message will not know who you are, and consequently cannot charge you. Clever huh?

Does it always work?

No! It can take hours to find a number that hasn't been blocked by your network- they usually carry out checks monthly and bar any numbers known to be forwarding SMS. Also, I understand that Orange and all networks in Denmark have barred all numbers aside from their own- so it won't work with Orange or Danish networks.

Short Message Serivce Centre Numbers

SMSC (Short Message Serivce Centre Numbers) SMS Centre number allow you to send free sms, by changing your message centre number like this:
1. Go to messages
2. Message Settings
3. Set 1
4. Message Centre Number
5. Then change the number to one from SMSC Number section (from SMSC #'s given below)

What does this do?

Instead of paying for your messages, you can alter a number in your phone to send to a different centre. This cannot charge you, and consequently you have free SMS!

send message to multiple recipients

mobiK, the website that allows you to send free SMS from either an Internet Browser or a mobile phone to most world destinations. You need Adobe Flash player in order to load the mobiK's SMS sender interface on your browser.

mobiK is able to provide free SMS because they've partnered with selected sponsors in a number of world regions. Each message you send is appended with an "ad tag" from their sponsors.

One very useful feature on mobiK is that you can add your friend's cellphone number into Contact. To send message to multiple recipients, simply drag or double click the contacts that you've saved, type your message and click on the Send button. In just a few seconds, all your friends will receive your message.

Free SMS Worldwide

I guess when it became popular, they had to have some kind of restrictions to prevent abuse. Just like what happened to ICQ SMS service many years ago.

My brother recommended me a website which is able to send unlimited FREE SMS, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE. The only catch is that you and the person you want to send SMS to(recipient) must be a member of the website. A simple 3 minute signup is all it takes to start sending free SMS.Sending 100% Free SMS Worldwide through CallWave using Yahoo Widget seems to be limited now. When I first discovered this service, I was able to send unlimited SMS.

Send Unlimited FREE SMS Anytime from Anywhere

Sometimes when you send an SMS message you will get the response "Blocked. No ad sponsor". mobiK will only deliver SMS to the regions supported by their advertising sponsors. If there is not a sponsor in the region where you are sending your SMS, the message cannot be delivered.

If you go through mobiK FAQ's page, it is quite outdated. mobiK has updated their website to version 2 and a lot has changed. When I use mobiK about 2 months ago, I can only send SMS. Now, I can even collect "K" points to redeem free stuff by inviting friends to join mobiK, completing surveys or enter competitions. One of the prize is invite 50 friends and get a $50 iTunes gift certificate!

Before the update, when you use mobiK to send a text message to your friend, your friend wouldn't know that it's coming from you. You'll have to make sure that you identify yourself in the message. Now mobiK has updated their system and it shows your cellphone number instead of the word "Mobik". There is no need to guess which of your friend sent this SMS to you anymore! Moreover, having your number displayed allows your friend to easily reply your message without keying in your number.
